Description

This class will provide training on how to correctly make V-Groove welds with backing strips on carbon steel plate in the 1g,2g,3g,and 4g positions using(SMAW). Students will make multi-pass-v-groove welds and will learn visual inspection approval process for D1.1.

  • Prerequisite:

    This class is not intended for beginner welding students. It is designed for students who have welding experience or who have taken the basic welding class.  If you have no welding experience, the outcome may not meet your expectations. If you do not meet the experience criteria for this class, you may want to consider attending the basic class first.
  • Course Objective:

    This course introduces more advanced welding topics and projects in Oxy-Acetylene cutting, cutting, and Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW). Students will develop skills to weld v-groove, butt joints in the horizontal and vertical positions, with root and face U-bend test being performed on the welds.
