In June 2008, Governor Bob Riley announced the location for Alabama's new robotics training and education center in Decatur. The Huntsville area's leadership in robotics made North Alabama the ideal spot for the center, which has brought remarkable benefits to the local economy, workforce, and future.
The Alabama Robotics Technology Park is a three (3) building campus targeted to the needs of the robotics industry. We broke ground on our $71 million investment in 2009 and completed phase 1 the following year. By 2016, we had completed Phase 2, Phase 3, and implemented the RTP Mobile Robotic Training Lab, which is designed to give k-12 students, teachers, and parents a hands-on experience introduction to the latest technology within the robotics industry.
The Robotics Technology Park's mission is to provide a technically trained, highly skilled, and educated workforce for automation and robotics, to assist public and private entities in developing new robotics systems and technologies, and to promote the creation, growth, or expansion of companies through innovative technology solutions.
The RTP will educate and train citizens in emerging robotics and automation technologies that will enable Alabama as a world leader.
