Description

This class will provide training on how to correctly make V-Groove welds with backing strips on carbon steel plate in the 1g,2g,3g,and 4g positions using(GMAW). Students will make multi-pass-v-groove welds and will learn visual inspection approval process.

  • Prerequisite:

    This class is not intended for beginner welding students. It is designed for students who have welding experience or who have taken the basic welding class.  If you have no welding experience, the outcome may not meet your expectations. If you do not meet the experience criteria for this class, you may want to consider attending the basic class first.

     
  • Course Objective:

    Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

    1. Demonstrate proficiency with GMAW in various welding positions on pipe.

    2. Describe safety rule and equipment used in GMAW.

    3. Describe the effects of welding parameters in GMAW.

    4. Weld various joint designs and diagnose welding problems and perform visual inspections.
