Course Description
The Overhead Crane safety class is an introductory level course designed to provide operators with a firm understanding of health and safety standards, preventative maintenance, and proper procedures for the safe operation of overhead cranes. The course consists of classroom theory with a written component and practical, hands-on experience. Course content is delivered through a PowerPoint presentation and interactive discussion and reinforced through workbooks and supplementary handouts.
Topics covered will include but are not limited to:
- Hazards associated with overhead cranes
- Crane usage
- Safe operating practices
- Proper loading and securing of the load
- Fall protection requirements when applicable
- Crane inspections
- Crane components
- Maintenance requirements
- Training requirements
- Hand and radio signals
Proper Clothing is required! No Shorts, No jewelry, No tank tops, No open toed shoes, sandals or flip flops! This is strictly enforced!
